After months of hard work — building, refining, testing, listening to feedback — I’m proud to share that Zenarmor 2.0 is now generally available.
It means more than just a version number update. It’s the result of a vision we’ve been pursuing for some time: a unified SASE platform that truly matches how businesses operate today — instant, simple, flexible, fast, and built for an agile, mobile and distributed world.
I wanted to take a few minutes to share with you why this release matters — not only for us, but for any organization navigating the new realities of work and security.
The Way We Work Has Changed — For Everyone
Five years ago, work looked very different. Employees worked at fixed office locations, connected to internal company networks, using company owned desktops. Data lived safely inside on-premises data centers. The network perimeter was clear.
But that world is gone — for everyone.
Today, workforces are mobile. Teams work from home, cafés, client sites, on the road, using laptops, smartphones, tablets and accessing sensitive data from anywhere.
This shift has not only happened to large enterprises or tech firms.
It’s just as true for small businesses such as law firms, architecture firms, real estate agencies constantly moving between offices, client locations, and remote workspaces.
Agility and mobility are now how business is done in every industry, at every size.
Yet traditional network security models, perimeter-based products and VPNs, were not designed for this environment. They can’t fully protect users who are mostly off-network.
We are not the only ones noticing this shift and recognize there needs to be a fresh approach.
Recognizing this shift, the industry moved toward a new framework: Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), first defined by Gartner.
This initial version of SASE, which we call cloud-only SASE, was a good step in the right direction. However it spawned new challenges.
Cloud-only SASE Challenges
Below are some of the common complaints we’ve heard:
- High costs → Cloud infra and data egress fees
- Performance issues → Latency from routing all traffic through vendor clouds
- Complex setup → Fragmented licensing, heavy vendor lock-in
- Privacy concerns → Sensitive traffic handed off to vendor clouds
- IoT & legacy gaps → Poor support for hybrid environments
It became clear: businesses of all sizes need a better way to secure their distributed, cloud-first, mobile workforces; and cloud-only SASE needed to be improved as well.
Introducing: Plug. SASE. Everywhere.
With Zenarmor 2.0, we’re redefining SASE to become faster, simpler and even more agile.
Plug. SASE. Everywhere. — because security inspection should happen where it makes the most sense:
- Edge gateway
- Cloud VPC gateway
- Endpoint (desktop or laptop)
The benefits:
- No cloud backhauling → Lower latency, lower cost
- No POP outages or IP blacklisting
- Local inspection & enforcement
- Deploy in minutes
- Unified Zenconsole management
- IdP integration + API support
What’s in Zenarmor 2.0
Zenarmor SASE is built on two core components:
- Secure the Internet — with Secure Service Edge (SSE)
- Secure Access to Private Networks — with Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA)
Together:
SSE + ZTNA = SASE → Secure all user traffic (public & private) from anywhere
- → Consistent policies & full visibility
- → Zero Trust architecture — no VPN dependence
Built for Real-World Use Cases
Our initial customers — from small businesses to large organizations — are using Zenarmor 2.0 to:
- Secure remote workforces (with or without network hardware)
- Replace MPLS / SD-WAN / VPN
- Enable ZTNA access to private networks
- Protect branch and school edges
- Protect cloud workloads
- Support IoT and legacy infrastructure
- Gain Shadow IT visibility and control
